Tormented Taylor Rejoins Twitterverse

0

America’s country sweetheart Taylor Swift loved her Twitter. She bounced around backstage of the MTV Video Music Awards - swapping tweets with Katy Perry- and couldn’t help but describe her VMA experience as being like “a little kid in an aquarium.”

The night then only got better for her, as she won a moon man for best Female Video. She almost appeared to float as she began an emotional acceptance speech thanki……oh no, is that Kanye West? In what has now moved onto internet meme fame, Kanye robbed us all. He robbed us of a night full of fairy tale tweets from @taylorswift13. Robbed! That was September 13th.

After that fateful moment, nothing. Radio silence. Taylor, and her 3 tweet a day habit, went silent. 1.3 million followers were left wondering what to do next. That is, until tonight - some 8 days later. Hearing the silence was broken we all were wondering what the first message would be - would she share her feelings of that night? Will she publicly proclaim her forgiveness for Mr. West? Was she in rehab? All of our questions are about to be answered as Fearless Taylor Swift rejoined the Twitterverse with:

“Just picked out the exact dimensions of my future fireplace. It was exhilarating.”

She’s Baaaaaack!

Just Throw First Adopters to the Wolves

Wolfram Alpha is awesome. But no one is talking about it anymore. So what gives?

Samantha has more on the importance of marketing to the masses, rather then the technologically hip.

Oh, an afterthought. If you keep trying to promote new products to the same ole crowd over and over again, (what I like to call incest marketing), be aware of a hex known as the Scoble Curse

Twookers and New Media Tweetjobs

0

Like most businesses out there, the ole prostitution racket is leveraging the benefits of social media. Of course, the mainstream media has yet to realize this, otherwise we’d be treated to hyper-over sensationalized stories about how the hussy trade has run rampant in the twittosphere. (Think: Tonight at 10, what you don’t know about Twitter and how will ruin your children!!!!! Stay Tuned!)

But hookers are people too. And on Twitter they are providing one of the best examples of violating the cardinal rule: mixing business with pleasure. There are tweets regarding the joy of performing the Italian Chandelier intermixed with their granddaughters favorite snicker doodle recipe. Talk about building a brand! And to think you used to have to decide between just blonde or brunette. Decisions, decisions.

Some our faves:

1. If you like Scottish alternative rock and are feeling randy this evening, you’re in luck with @vamaturegfe:

— #musicmonday Jesus and Mary Chain-I hate rock and roll

– Norfolk, Va Incall today 3-7p only.

2. If you’re into fucking someone’s Nana, give @atlantagrits a shot:

– watching my grandaughter swing in her swing..
– im bout to take a shower and get sexy for YOU!

3. If you’re a member of PETA then @RedLightRuby is the girl for you:

– I’m so sorry to hear that your kitty is sick.
– I was the hand job queen tonight. It’s funny how things happen in groups. I’ll be glad to get home tomorrow.

What happens on Twitter, stays on Twitter.

Social Media Delusion

2

This is one big suck-fest. Ever notice that blogs about blogging, (the ones who encourage discussion, interaction, and creativity), only get tit-sucking and gushing feedback via comments from their readers?

Why is it happening? I have an idea. It’s because these same social media evangelists preach feeble minded strategies on how to grow your blog. Such “strategies” include the importance of “commenting” on other blogs? Why comment? For a miniscule chance that someone may click on your link? Isn’t that just link baiting? And what kind of personal validation do you get from telling an author you absolutely, 100%, totally agree with him? Do you really think that you can come up with a comment that is so brilliant or snarky that it will outshine the author, and make me want to click on your commenter link?

The worst community of commenters are over at Copyblogger. These folks are contributing nothing but brown-nosing noise. Take these examples from Copyblogger’s Headline Formula post:

Shameless Plug Award:
Great list - my Coffeeshopreneur members will LOVE this list!

Not Really English Award:
great tips. i just practice some of them. and it’s work.

Goes Without Saying Award:
Sometimes it is hard to create a good headline that convert to sales, your acticle refreshing me. thanks.

If you blog about blogging, be prepared for an onslaught of bloggers honing their skills on your blog.

Wasting Your Time and Money on Social Media?

0

Why does the porn industry and late night infomercials always have to make fools of net marketing experts? Because they are able to actually make some money with this internet shit. Case in point, Skinny Switch Secret charges $5.95 a week to be part of a online weight loss community. What are you charging? Sophia has more (NSFW)…

Twitter Users Decide to ‘Reply-All’

0

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  I noticed on Saturday that Twitter was featuring the trending topic of “biopharmaceuticals.”  I had first hoped there was some major biopharmaceutical leak, or maybe even a new terrorist plot using  proteins, antibodies, or nucleic acids (thanks, wikipedia).

But alas, it all turns out to just be a massive ‘reply-all.’  We’ve all been there. Accounting sends out an email announcing there is left over birthday cake in the break room.  Now Brad responds back, (CC:ing the entire freaking firm) that his child support payments were deducted twice this month.  Then some genius hits reply-all to tell Brad that he is the dumbass. Cue the ‘please remove me from this list’ email stream.  The whole thing ends in a server crippling email avalanche.

Twitter: same shit. First a job posting goes out for like every city in the union for a biopharmaceutical rep.  The sheer number of tweets (45) in a short time frame probably made the trending topics algorithm go a bit haywire. Once biopharmaceuticals got to the Twitter trending list, the next logical step for the combined twitterverse hive was to start to talking about it, perpetuating the original problem.
